Playing folk songs and tunes with simple traditional chord progressions, Johnny Campbell, Whitney Campbell, Jeff Burke, Chris Carter and Carl Caldwell of “Let’s Pick Records" and Johnny Campbell and the Bluegrass Drifters, bring their unparalleled passion for bluegrass music, purpose, personality, poise and firm footing on where they stand amidst the evolving sound of American bluegrass sound.

Starting the Bluegrass Drifters in Santa Cruz, California with his wife Whitney and as the founding member of the Volunteer Spring Band, a Nashville Jamgrass band, third generation fiddler Johnny Campbell’s faith and bluegrass bliss to first generation bluegrass musicians’ style and greats Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Jim & Jesse & the Virginia Boys and the Stanley Brothers, plays out in his day-to-day life both at home and in the studio.

Winning several fiddle competitions on the longbow fiddle coupled with his success in helping a San Francisco based band, Windy Hill, win several band competitions including Emerging Artist in The California Bluegrass Association, after 35 years as a sideman, Johnny Campbell now takes center stage alongside his crew of his bluegrass band ensuring fans that while there is undoubtedly a craze for new sound and modification to bluegrass art, tradition and hometown roots will always be what makes bluegrass music both personal and universal.

Their album “Johnny Campbell & The Bluegrass Drifters” is available on iTunes.
