Out Of Nashville: Radio Romance

In 2011 Sam Hayes, Josh Gramling, and Moises Padilla met and instantly felt a musical connection. Not only did the trio mesh well together in the writing room and studio but they also found themselves becoming close friends on a personal level. They hit the streets of Lower Broadway in Nashville and began playing shows all across town. One day they realized if they were going to keep playing together they might as well pick a band name. They had seen an old Eddie Rabbit Album on the wall at famed Broadway Honky Tonk, Legend’s Corner titled, “Radio Romance” and it was an instant sell. Radio Romance was born and the guys have been writing, recording and touring ever since.

In 2013, Radio Romance signed a Publishing / Artist Development deal with Sony / ATV Nashville. Since signing with Sony they have had the opportunity to co-write with many hit songwriters which has led the band to release 2 EP’s; all featuring songs that were written or co-written by Sam, Josh and Moises.

Radio Romance has had the opportunity to travel all across the US performing their music. They have had shared the stage with many Artists’ including: Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell, Lee Brice, ZZ Top, Phil Vasser, Colt Ford, Parmalee and many others. The bands traditional country sound mixed with their 90’s pop/rock harmonies make for a dynamic live performance full of energy.

Out Of Nashville: Carter Winter

Fitting every bit the part of the man in black, Carter Winter is country music’s modern traditionalist.   Singing heartfelt and relatable songs landscaping heartbreak and the American dream poured over ice, the singer/songwriter from rural Ohio has seen firsthand the effects of connecting with an audience through a fresh sound that like Carter himself, is surprisingly familiar, yet raw and honest.   From behind his guitar and sleeves of tattoos, Carter began playing local bars around his hometown and quickly grew an incredible fan base of loyal listeners from California to the Carolinas.   First well-known for his cover songs of artists that inspired him early on (Garth Brooks, George Strait), Carter’s ability to take three chords and his own truth and deliver a compelling live performance has contributed to the incredible success of Some Kind of Fire, his first independent six-song release.   With his rich, traditional country vocal and compelling live performance, Carter has gained recognition from some of the biggest names in country music andshared the stage with artists such as Sam Hunt, Chase Rice and Travis Tritt.   Recently completing his second studio album with multi Grammy Award-winning producer Chad Carlson (Taylor Swift, Chase Rice, Cole Swindell) and producer Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts), Carter Winter’s sophomore release The Whiskey In Me  makes a solid entry into country music that firmly establishes his bad boy brand as a natural force in country music.

Out Of Nashville: Jay Bragg Band

When songwriter Jay Bragg left the state of Maine and his band North of Nashville behind to move to Nashville, TN, he knew that little of the small town glory he had as a musician would mean anything in a city known for crushing dreams.  But he simply had to do it.

As a child, Jay's home was filled with guitars, singing and vinyl records spanning the landscape of American music - the down home country of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, the soulful rhythm and blues of Ray Charles and James Brown, the harmony driven folk of Simon and Garfunkel and Crosby, Stills and Nash and the rock ’n’ roll of The Beatles and The Who.

Staring at age 5, Jay began performing in front of audiences playing first the violin, then the piano, drums, guitar and vocals but it wasn’t until he started playing the bar circuit in Portland, Maine that it became clear that music was something that he could make a living from.  Never the critical darling or the singer deemed “most likely to make it”, he fought tooth and nail to get gigs and get better at his craft.

Jay spent years fronting various bar bands - most successfully the outlaw country duo North of Nashville who toured the country, playing 200 dates a year and sharing the stage with the likes of Brothers Osborne, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan and Chris Stapleton. NoN was awarded “Country Act Of The Year” by the New England Music Awards in 2015. However, within 2 months of winning that prestigious award, Jay Bragg, feeling himself outgrowing a relatively small music market, decided to leave it all behind and move to Nashville to in hopes to be challenged like never before but with the chance of reaching the widest audience possible.

Out Of Nashville: Kathleen Regan

Kathleen Regan is a 22 year old singer and songwriter from Boston, MA with a catchy folk/pop vibe. She has been influenced by many genres over the years, something you can hear in her music at a first listen. Kathleen began writing songs at age 10, and picked up her first guitar at age 13. Soon after, she found herself performing at local cafe's and theatrical productions around New England. After graduating Holliston High School in 2012, she knew the artist route was the direction she wanted to go in. She spent some time in Los Angeles writing and collaborating with any artist she could get in studio with. She quickly found songwriting stood out as the heart of her craft and that Nashville, TN would be the next step.

Months after moving south at age 19, Kathleen got in the studio to record her debut EP, Thank the Dirt, with one of the best producers in town. This EP helped direct her to the sound she had been working to achieve. Kathleen has been compared to the likes of Colbie Caillat, Jewel, and Maren Morris - all women who write with daring personality and each bring something new to their genre. On October 28th 2016, Kathleen will be releasing her first self-titled EP. This album will consist of 4 brand new songs, written with some of Nashville's favorite songwriters. One being a woman by the name of Sarah Siskind, a americana artist who has had her songs recorded by one of Kathleen's favorites - Alison Krauss. "To say getting in the studio to write with Sarah was a dream come true would be a huge understatement" Kathleen smiles, talking about their tune "Risk it All". Her debut EP will be available on iTunes and Spotify on October 28th.

Out Of Nashville: Nick Alligood

Loretta's Last Call proudly welcomes back Nashville's Nick Alligood!

Nick Alligood is a Southern-Born force that can not be denied. Hailing from the state of Georgia that has produced some of Country Music’s most prominent Artists, Musicians, and Songwriters; Nick combines every element of the South to demand and retain attention from fans nationwide. Since day one, there has been a hunger to “fill the boots” of artist’s that have paved the ways for the modern industry, while keeping true to his own roots. Taking home the Georgia Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year in only the second year of being a solo artist, says a lot. And, showing up in boots with a firm handshake can only help show there is promise in a world that is starting to be shadowed by negativity. This great nation was built with hard work, and there is no denying the ethic that has gotten Nick to the point where he is at today. Helping to give a voice back to the class that demands one so powerfully, Nick doesn’t speak or sing with any twang or southern draws; he announces his message with a strong American Accent.

Out Of Nashville: Chris Shrader

Chris grew up in the small town of Pulaski, TN, where the local store had a sign reading, “Population: 99, More or Less.” Growing up, Chris would earn his weekly allowance helping his dad do odd jobs around the county to provide the family a little extra money. While riding to the job sites, Chris and his dad would sing to the radio. His dad noticed his son’s talent and always encouraged him to sing. But at that time, Chris just had girls, sports, and his allowance on the brain. However, if there was a family gathering, the only way he could earn his allowance was if he sang. “Growing up, I was always way too nervous to sing. The only way you could get me to was by holding my allowance ransom.”

But ask Chris how he first started playing music, and he’ll tell you that his parents bought him a mandolin that Christmas he was 14. “I guess it truly started there, but I’ve been hooked on country music since I was in a crib thanks to dad.” Being raised by a man who loved the music of Merle, Waylon, Willie, and Jones made their songs second nature to him.

As a standout football player, Chris had an opportunity to play at the college level, but things didn’t fall into place as he had hoped, and he found himself working in the real world. Searching for something to fill the void that sports left, Chris finally found the answer in music. A bad car accident almost cost him his life. After 28 days in a coma, over a month in the ICU, four months in a wheelchair, and 22 surgeries later, Chris took up the guitar. “I figured if I’m going to have to lie on this couch rehabbing all the time, I want to learn to play.”

He taught himself from the internet, then auditioned for a frontman slot in a house band four nights a week at Sundance Saloon in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. “I went from playing for my girlfriend to playing for 500+ people a night on the weekends. Six months later, he was recruiting Nashville-based musicians to play with him at various nightspots and dance halls in Tennessee. By the end of 2010, the friends he had recruited started recruiting him to move to Nashville. In the sumer of 2011 he officially made Music City home. Now he is an endorsed artist with GHS Springs, Taylor Guitars, and Clayton Picks, as well as other great companies, playing over 200 shows a year.

His songs and singing style reflects the music that surrounded him growing up. Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, and Reba influence him. But his music is also flavored by the eclectic rock music he listened to as a teenager: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins, and the Foo Fighters, among others. Mix in a dash of contemporary country, and you have a soulful, rocking style of traditional country music that is Chris Shrader’s sound alone. You can find Chris electrifying stages and earning his allowance song by song as he did when he was a boy.

About The Last Call Foundation

The Last Call Foundation was born of the determination to ensure that tragedies such as the one on March 26, 2014 never happen again.

The mission of the Last Call Foundation is to provide funding, education and research to advance the safety needs of the Boston firefighting community. We are committed to enhancing the ability of our dedicated firefighting professionals to effectively and safely fight fires and protect the public.

The Last Call Foundation was founded by Kathy Crosby-Bell in honor of her son, fallen Firefighter Michael Kennedy, who along with Lieutenant Edward Walsh died battling the nine-alarm fire on March 26, 2014 in Boston’s Back Bay. This tragedy highlighted the unique challenges facing firefighters. The Last Call Foundation is committed to identifying and addressing these challenges to enhance firefighters’ ability to safely and effectively fight fires and protect each of us. With your help, we can avoid future tragedy and, hopefully, save lives.

The Last Call Foundation is committed to supporting firefighters everywhere because every firefighter is a hero every day.
