Live Music: Eric Holmgren

Eric Holmgren was born in the two stop light map dot town of Orange, MA. Growing up in a rural area turned Eric onto music early on when he received his first guitar at the age of just 6 years old, a Christmas present, that would turn out to be the tool that tough him he had a gift for singing and performing in front of an audience. Eric grew up listening to country music like John Denver from his parents, and Garth Brooks with a big influence in 80’s and 90’s styles. He will be the first to tell you he was also a big fan of Brian Adams and 80’s Hair bands and still is. He started playing songs on the guitar and he got the passion for the Country Direction at a young age. This would prove to be the staple and starting point for a drive Eric just couldn't ignore. “It was the stories in every song” he will tell you “that brought me to know this was the direction to go”.

As the years rolled on Eric realized he wanted this for more than just a hobby and knew there was only one option in mind. After Graduating from college he set out to follow his true passion and prove to everyone that he was in fact made for this life. He packed all his things and drove to Nashville never even seeing the state of Tennessee but knowing that's where the dream would be, and where he needed to be.

Since moving to Nashville Eric has been working on his craft with other song writers and playing in every honkytonk that he can. He has been working on his technique and trying to create his own sound but not falling too far from that Traditional Country Sound that has influenced him. Eric has worked with techniques derived from top professors at the New England Conservatory and pushed himself with the help of these connections to work thousands of hours on honing his skills to the level they are today.

Over the years in Nashville, Eric has built up his reputation to working with major acts, opening for names such as Merle Haggard, Wade Hayes, and others. Eric’s powerful voice and songs draws in the crowd which evolves into a high energy show. He has written songs with major player writers such as Tony Stamply, Bart Allmand, Buddy Owens, and many more, as well as Shared the stage with Major Industry names like 80s Pop Star Tiffany, TV show Nashville's Claire Bowen, and more. With the mentoring help and friendships from unforgettable names like Little Richard, Donna Douglas, Jeff Huskins and Tiffany, it’s no surprise Eric is making name for himself in the music capital of the world.

Eric, now linked up with an Industry Hit producer, has finished an EP and is now on the road promoting to fans or what he likes to call his “country music friends” his new and best work yet. Though it may seem like so much is already happening in this young artist life, it’s all just beginning and you are just seeing the start of it. Don't miss your chance to check out Eric when he’s in your area and catch what will sure to be one of the best shows you’ve seen to date.

Show starts at 10PM • Listen to Eric Holmgren

Out Of Nashville: Jay Taylor Band

From the introduction of his show to his closing regards, Jay Taylor makes connections with individuals, young or old, in the audiences across the nation where he has played.

Born in Duette, FL, on a 2,000 acre farm and ranch, Jay learned early the meaning of hard work and discipline from a supportive family and devout religion that has come in very handy since moving to Nashville, TN in January of 2008. Since moving to “Music City” Jay has played in over 40 states and several of Nashville’s famous venues including Tootsies Orchid Lounge, 3rd and Lindsley, and live on famous WSM 650 A.M. Jay’s love for music and his career are urgent, passionate, dedicated and certainly humbling.

Jay has co-written every song on the album along with his band mates. His original music has many elements of his own musical influences such as George Strait, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, even subtle hints of Motown and Southern Gospel can be heard. His melodies are creations all his own. They certainly spring from his heart, for music has been religion for Jay, a relationship established by his family and church early in life. “I grew up singing in an old Southern Baptist church where my mom played piano and there was just something about her playing and singing that captured me, it still does to this day.” In fact, the song “One reason” on his latest e.p. was brought to life through the inspiration of gospel music, “it sounded like a gospel melody to me, and I fell in love with it”.

Jay was a small town guy singing gospel songs on Sundays in his church choir with his grandpa, grandma, father and mother when he realized his passion and his life’s new and adventurous possibilities. He buzzes constantly with a great sense of humor and tune on his lips. At age seventeen Jay received his first guitar and started taking his desire for country music much more seriously. With this he began writing his own songs, optimistically looking forward to his future career as a musician. At age 19 Jay received a tremendous boost when he auditioned for a contest called, “Florida Super Singer”, and, to make a long story short, out of 856 hopefuls, he won top honors. The unconventional road Jay has taken has had it’s share of disappointments and struggles but they have grounded Jay even more in the real world to shine more light on his passion and ambition. As a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” Jay experienced California and an entirely new music industry and found inspiration that materialized in his song “The Light.” Moving from the farm to the city, Jay has focused his every aspiration on song writing, on music and on the chance to connect with a larger crowd. The move to Nashville motivated his mental, and spiritual growth. Many people leave home to look out on the world and have it look back on them, to challenge their notions of the world and of themselves. “The Light,” connects with this most human aspiration and faith is the light.

With every ambition to support his music, he’s held jobs selling everything from time-shares to fishing rods. Until he became one of the lucky few who could do what he loves for a living, Jay still calls it hard work, culminating his craft and his knowledge of music.

Jay has played for every crowd, from the pews of his church to the crowds of 100s and 1000s at Busch Garden’s and the Florida Strawberry Festival. Jay’s plan now is to reach out across the south, playing every type of venue to share his original songs. With Jay’s strong unique vocals, his world class band’s distinct sound, Jay shares his life long love for music and connects with the crowd and every individual in the audience. Jay Taylor is guaranteed to leave a lasting mark on any stage he plays, a mark you definitely won’t want to miss.

Out Of Nashville: Bobby McClendon

"If the crowd is not on their feet, they will be when Bobby McClendon hits the stage! This guy is what "live music" is all about. The energy on stage is phenomenal and the music is there to back it up. This guy knows how to put on a show!" – Jay Walker Program Director KTTI

Hard work, determination, and sacrifice define Bobby McClendon. Years of hard work and a determination to succeed at the highest level have paved the way and sharpened the skills of this artist. For the past ten years, Bobby has toured the country, honing his craft on stages large and small, developing one of the most dynamic live shows in any genre of music.

The list of those that Bobby has shared the stage with continues to grow- Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Lee Brice, Dustin Lynch, Canaan Smith, Parmalee, Cassadee Pope, Gretchen Wilson, Cowboy Troy, Montgomery Gentry, Chris Cagle, Pat Green, John Michael Montgomery, Joe Diffie and Rick Trevino to name a few.

Bobby McClendon and his band, the Dirt Road Cartel, are the total package—great vocals, world-class energetic live show, a unique look and charisma to burn, as well as a wealth of experience and a work ethic that impresses everyone.

Along with his amped-up live show, Bobby and the DRC's incredible sound and harmonies allows them to continue the winning of fans city after city.

“I walk out, take one look at the crowd and attack. I never let up, whether it’s a thirty-minute opening slot for a headliner or a four-hour show. The energy stays cranked up the entire time.” Behind that energy is a world of industry knowledge put to good use. "I put time, effort, passion, drive, determination, creativity and initiative into making my ideas, music and dreams become reality every single time I step on a stage.”

As Bobby McClendon takes his music nationwide, his style being compared to the likes of a country combination consisting of: Jason Aldean, Tim Mcgraw, Gary Allan, Kenny Chesney and Chris Ledoux, his unique style of country rock sets him apart from all other performers. One thing is for sure about Bobby McClendon & the Dirt Road Cartel, there’s no smoke and mirrors with this band and one of country music’s most unique and energetic artists.

***** All proceeds to benefit the AYA Cancer Alliance *****

About the AYA Cancer Alliance:

The origin of the Alliance begins with Reid R Sacco, a young man who, shortly after being accepted to Columbia University and just a few weeks before graduating high school, was diagnosed with a cancer seen predominately in adolescents and young adults.  Two years later, Reid Sacco had lost his courageous and inspiring battle with that cancer.  But during that period, he dreamed not only of finally attending Columbia but also of starting a movement to find better treatments -- and someday a cure -- for the cancers striking his age group.

Driven by his inspiration, we are carrying this dream forward to give to others, in the form a non-profit charitable organization that will support scholarship and research.   We have set up this Alliance, in Reid's honor, to make sure that other young adults like Reid will never need to abandon their dreams of college and a long, healthy life ahead.   The Alliance will support those who aspire to excellence in education.  It will support research programs that aspire to conquer cancers like the one that took Reid's life.

In 2005, we launched the Reid R Sacco Memorial Foundation as an organization of volunteers that would raise awareness and funds to fight the cancers striking adolescents and young adults.

In 2013, we changed the name of this organization to the Reid R. Sacco AYA Cancer Alliance to better reflect the mission and focus of this organization.

The Reid R. Sacco AYA Cancer Alliance is an organization of volunteers committed to remembering Reid by doing everything possible to prevent what happened to him from happening to other young adults and adolescents with cancer. These volunteers form essentially what is a community of family, friends and acquaintances from all over. This community's commitment takes the form of advocacy for the Alliance's mission of supporting research directed at finding better treatments and someday a cure for the cancers that strike adolescents and young adults. It spreads a message about awareness of a disease not readily anticipated in young adults and one that is often diagnosed much too late for the disease to be curable. Much of the time, this community of volunteers is raising funds to benefit the Reid Sacco AYA Cancer Fund through any number of large and small fund-raising events, like Reid's Ride. The governance of the Reid R Sacco AYA Cancer Alliance is simple and reflects the community basis of the organization. Two boards, a senior board and a junior board, meet frequently to plan events and make decisions. A separate board reviews applications for the Reid Sacco Memorial Scholarship, and selects its winners.

The Reid Sacco AYA Cancer Fund is a field-of-interest fund managed by the Essex County Community Foundation in Danvers, Massachusetts (ECCF). ECCF also manages the Reid Sacco Memorial Scholarship Fund. ECCF is a charitable organization with 501 (3)(c) status managing dozens of funds and charitable trusts like ours. Our partnership with ECCF means that donations to either of the two funds qualify as tax-deductible charitable donations. This partnership allows us to take advantage of ECCF's expertise in managing the complex financial, regulatory, and tax details associated with a non-profit organization. In addition to helping us keep our administrative costs low, ECCF also promotes our two funds to philanthropic organizations and individuals. Most importantly, this partnership allows us to focus on what's most important right now: fund-raising and awareness.

Out Of Nashville: Greg Burroughs

Greg Burroughs is Bringin' Nashville to Boston!

Greg Burroughs--originally from Lebanon, Ohio--is a singer-songwriter who has always had a love of music. Burroughs sings vocals and plays a variety of instruments including the guitar, piano, and harmonica, however his main passion is song writing.  Burroughs made Nashville his home after graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2008 and began collaborating with world-renowned songwriters including David Lee, Darrell Brown, and Clay Mills.

While at Berklee, Burroughs and a few of his buddies grouped together to become The Greg Burroughs Band and he hasn't looked back since. Playing approximately 200 shows annually over the last three years, Burroughs has shared bills with acts the likes of Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, and Jake Owen.

Burroughs creates an infectious, party-like atmosphere everywhere he plays, whether he's fronting a full band show on the road or enjoying an acoustic writers round in Nashville. Burroughs spends an equal amount of energy off of the stage and has learned to forge his own success without a record label, major booking agent or investor. He credits his progress to his loving fans and the lifelong friendships he's built through touring, record sales, digital downloads, and merchandise sales.

Show starts at 10PM • Listen to Greg Burroughs

About Pig Rock Sausages
Pig Rock Sausages is the brainchild of longtime Boston Executive Chef Art Welch. After months of sampling various sausages for the restaurants he runs on Fenway Park's historic Lansdowne Street, Art felt there was a need in the restaurant market for a quality sausage that would satisfy not only diners but chefs as well. Sixteen months after the idea was sparked, Art fired up the grinder and the first batch of Pig Rock Sausages was made.

The focus of Pig Rock Sausages is using fresh, quality ingredients to produce the highest quality line of sausages. We do not have any additives or preservatives. What is on our label is what is in our sausages.

Pig Rock Sausages offers a growing line of gourmet sausages as well as the classic Sweet & Hot Italian. Current flavors include Chicken & Maple Sausage, Turkey & Cranberry Sausage, Bratwurst, Sweet & Hot Italian, Chipotle Chicken & Lime Sausage, Breakfast Sausage & Merguez, Chicken & Apple, Chicken & Spinach w/ Sun Dried Tomato & Basil and Fresh Mexican Chorizo.
