LORETTA'S ARTIST OF WEEK 8/24/15
Cat and The Moon is a blend of the driving and the calm, of the traditional and the modern, of the acoustic and the electric. The band met at Boston's Berklee College of Music where two members are currently continuing their studies. They are taking from the roots of Celtic and bluegrass musics and turning it into a new kind of exciting and original sound. Armed with original music and technical prowess, this five-piece band from Boston has been astounding audiences since 2013.
Banjoist/composer Ricky Mier began his musical career at Berklee College of Music where he met violinist/composer Kathleen Parks and guitarist Eamon Sefton. There, Charles Berthoud joined the group contributing a fluid yet percussive foundation on electric bass. At The Highland Games, Eamon met a charming Elias Alexander who is a percussionist and Scottish piper. From the very first notes that the ensemble played together they knew that the chemistry was right and since then Cat and The Moon has established itself.
