LORETTA'S ARTIST OF WEEK 10/20/14 - 10/26/14
Formed in 2012 in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Redleg Husky is an Americana/folk band that recalls the sounds of a long drive, a well-worn record, and boots on a dusty floor. Their live performances have captivated audiences throughout the nation, leading to features on the Alternate Root Magazine's "5 Flying Under the Radar," WNCW's "Local Color," WMMT Mountain Community Radio, WDVX's "Blue Plate Special," Homoground.com, and a performance at the 2014 Sirens on the Mountain Music Festival.
Redleg Husky consists of Misa Giroux (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Tim McWilliams (vocals, guitar, banjo), and regional/studio musician David Funderburk (vocals, various percussion, musical saw). Their debut self-titled EP was recorded in Greensboro, NC, by Daniel Levi Goans (Lowland Hum) and released in January 2013, followed by their first full-length studio album Carolina, recorded at Wild Chorus Studios in Knoxville, TN, by Scott Minor (Sparklehorse) and released in March 2014.
Determined to share their unique blend of boot-stompin' folk music with soul, Misa and Tim are currently on a self-planned national tour.
